Sedona Museum Offers Oak Creek Tours

OCC Tour 2011-Thompson7Sedona AZ (January 15, 2016) – The Sedona Heritage Museum will once again present its popular sites tours of Oak Creek Canyon’s historic places on March 31 and April 1 and 2, 2016.

The tours will be narrated by Paul Thompson. Thompson is the grandson of pioneer homesteader Jim Thompson, the area’s first permanent white settler who arrived in 1876, and son of Albert Thompson, author of many stories found in the book, Those Early Days.

A comfortable 14 passenger luxury coach will stop at historic places from uptown Sedona to upper Oak Creek Canyon. In all, Thompson will explain over twenty homesteads, squatter sites, campgrounds and other historic locations including stops at Bear Howard’s cabin, Purtymun’s Cave Springs kitchen and Thompson’s spring house, among others.

Each tour will depart at 9:00 a.m. and return at approximately noon. Tickets are $50 for Sedona Historical Society/Sedona Heritage Museum members and $55 for non-members. Space is limited. These tours have historically sold out early. Tickets may be purchased over the phone by calling 928-282-7038 or in person at the Museum.

The Sedona Historical Society operates the Sedona Heritage Museum in Jordan Historical Park at 735 Jordan Road, uptown Sedona. Hours are daily from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and all are welcome.
