Sedona Museum Hosts Open House

Jordan Historical Park

Sedona AZ (October 24, 2011)  – The Sedona Heritage Museum will host a “Behind-the-Scenes” Open House on November 5, 2011 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Museum.

Ever wonder how a museum catalogs, conserves and stores historic artifacts? Do you enjoy handyman projects and wonder how those are applied in a museum setting? If you answered ‘yes’ to either question, plan to attend this special event.

The Museum Board will start with a brief introduction of special donors who made possible two special projects this past year. Then the Collections Room and the new Restoration Workshop will be open for tours and hands-on experiences. In the Collections Room you will be able to move most of the permanent collection with a single hand, or you can help with a textile preservation project, or you can research the electronic catalog. In the Restoration Workshop, there will be a couple of projects in progress with hands-on opportunities.

Refreshments will be served. Museum admission will be free until noon. For more information call 928-282-7038.

The Sedona Historical Society operates the Sedona Heritage Museum in Jordan Historical Park, 735 Jordan Road, uptown Sedona Arizona.
