Sedona AZ (December 1, 2014) – The Sedona Heritage Museum is hosting its Annual Christmas in the Park, an open house, on December 13, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. This event extends free admission to the museum and special free activities as a holiday gift to residents and visitors.
Everyone will be treated to hot apple cider, holiday cookies, and entertainment. A fire will burn in the red rock fireplace of the historic old Jordan house and the museum will be decorated in vintage holiday decor. A tumbleweed ‘snowman’ will greet all guests.
Sedona old-timers and local pioneer family descendants, including one of the Jordan children, F. Ruth Jordan Van Epps, as well as, Pat Schnebly Ceballos (Sedona’s granddaughter) and Patty Fox (a ranch wife), will be sharing stories about early Sedona days in the Museum exhibit rooms.
Volunteers will invite guests into the activity room to make a corn husk doll ornament.
Just in time for holiday gifts, Arizona and local authors will be signing copies of their books, including Lili Debarbieri’s “Location Filming in Arizona, the Screen Legacy of the Grand Canyon State,” Gene K. Garrison’s “Sedona Artists 1930-1999,” Rona Evartt’s children’s book “Mabel & the Magic Ballet Slippers” and Alice V. Roberts’ “The Hilltop Inn,” a romantic novel set in northern Arizona.
Enjoy a holiday music concert at 1:30 in the afternoon in the historic Fruit Packing Shed with a performance by the Big Park School choir. The Packing Shed is heated for concert-goers. At 12:00 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., volunteers will demonstrate the historic apple sorting machine. Please remember the museum admission, the concert and all activities are free!
Holiday shopping at the museum’s Gift Shop will be a “must do” as you take advantage of its annual sale. The Gift Shop carries many local artists and crafters handiwork suitable for kids and adults.
