The recall election has to be backed by those that want to go back to the big spending of the fire department. For my money those being recalled should be reelected as they did what they promised. Before those 3 got elected the fire departments budget was over twice the amount of the school system. This is way out of line especially considering most jobs in this area is low paying and their wages were higher than even the Phoenix fire department.

I just attended a Sedona Fire board meeting, It frankly make me angry. Are you aware that citizens are allowed to call Sedona Fire attorneys, and the department is billed for their questions? So these same citizens that are complaining about the legal costs of Sedona Fire get to increase these costs? The previous chief allowed this. My guess is that it was allowed to fuel the opposition of the current board.

Another item, Sedona Fire settled a wrongful termination suit with a past employee. Chief Hazime was in charge at the time. The department was extremely reluctant to advise the current Board of the settlement. The chief is in charge of ALL personnel matters. The board only controls the budget, the only person they are legally allowed to hire and fire is the Chief. If the chief stonewalls them, well, they can try and fire him.

I believe the recall slate will increase spending. The current district spending is way out of line for a district this size. The current board has been able to cut about 15% against much resistance. Let them TRY and finish the job.
