Sedona AZ (May 17, 2011) –As fire danger increases, fire restrictions go into effect throughout the Sedona Fire District, Monday, May 23 2011, at 8 a.m.

These restrictions include all open fires and campfires on private and public lands which are prohibited until such time as the extreme fire danger has subsided.

Since these restrictions are expected to be in effect until the monsoon rain arrives, all burn permits issued for the spring burn season are canceled. Petroleum-fueled stoves, lanterns, heaters and enclosed charcoal barbeque grills operated in residential yards are exempted from these restrictions. Charcoal barbecue grills are allowed as long as they have a cover. The public is urged to exercise extreme caution in the use of such stoves, lanterns, heaters, or grills.

If you any questions concerning these restrictions, please contact the Sedona Fire District at (928) 282-6800.
