Sedona uber-riche with signs saying Tax The Rich and We are the 99%? Really? No you’re not the 99%. You’re the 1%ers. If poor or hurting move to cheap rents in the Verde or down to Phoenix. We’ll even let you call it “downsizing”.

School Teacher in the Verde Valley (A preferred address to Sedona)

  2. Debbie S. says:

    Dear Michael,
You are so right, at least partially. Sedona has more than it’s fair share of rich people. They are the ones that want to spend money that we don’t have to take control of 89A which will cost many tens of millions of dollars in the future. I say… If that is what they want then they should pay for it.
But, believe it or not there are some of us here that aren’t rich and we ARE HURTING!! We live in trailers and rent rooms. We live on fixed/declining/disintigrating incomes! And the cost for everything keeps going up! So lets get off our butts and join the protest. Wednesday, Oct 19 at the corner of 89A and Coffee Pot drive from 3-5 p.m. See you there!

  3. Daniel says:

Debbie is right. I’m out there and i am sure not rich, and most of the people out there are not. So Michael, come on down if you want and check it out, this wednesday.

    Howdy,

I totally dig your site; and have shared it on Facebook! Fun read. Government needs to pay attention to this movement.

    In response to Debbie….
I saw Your comment and felt compelled to straighten out an intentional rumor that has been spread about the People Who want to Take-back the Highway. I know for a fact the Majority are not in much better shape then You are financially. Many, including Myself, live in mobile homes also. We just care very much for Sedona and it’s Residents. As for the Tens of Millions of dollars it will cost to take care of the highway, again, an intentional rumor, inflated by almost 10 X’s the suspected, actual amount. Who would make up such rumors? You should look at those that see Dollar signs instead of Red Rocks. You’re being manipulated.

We’ll protest the Main Street branches of the Wall Street banks, urging their customers to move their money to the small banks and credit unions that are investing in our communities.

“Will Occupy Cottonwood occupy our highway?”

The organizers of the Folksville USA, “Restore the beauty to America the Beautiful” effort would like to formally invite the “Occupy Cottonwood and Sedona” groups to help us clean our highways on November 19/20, 2011.

This isn’t to suggest that we endorse any protest or position but it is to show how groups with different messages can and hopefully will work together for the benefit of our communities.

We will be meeting at the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce (Visitor’s Information Center) at 8am on November 19, 2011.

Will you join us on November 19, 2011?

  8. Ron, Kingman AZ says:

Can you call Senators Jon Kyl and John McCain today, before Congress delivers more devastating cuts? It’s time to step up 99%ers. Sit in your recliners or do something that might make a difference.

Tell them “We are the 99%. Don’t cut our Social Security and Medicare to protect tax breaks for the 1%.”
