Sedona EMS 911 Response

Dear Editor,

I am one of those individuals who is wheel-chair bound 365 days a year, 24/7. Last night I was transferring from my wheel chair to the bed around midnight. I thought my legs were going to assist me in this maneuver; but I was wrong. I slid down onto the floor and made a number of attempts to get up; but it was all in vain.

My husband tried several times to pick me up but I was dead-weight and he couldn’t do it. He finally called “911” and within minutes, Captain Mark Rippy and two of his crew members walked into my room, and had me up on the bed on the count of three. Big THANKS of gratitude to Captain Rippy and his crew for helping me last night.

If it weren’t for our SFD EMS personnel, I would have been camping out on the floor all night. Unfortunately, this is not the first time they have had come out to help me.

I cannot express how truly grateful I am for the assistance of our wonderfully trained firefighter/paramedics.

Thank you, guys!

Sincerely,
Eileen Koniarsky, Sedona
