Sedona Community Campout

Sedona AZ (August 26, 2012) – The City of Sedona Arizona Parks and Recreation department invites visitors and locals to camp at its beautiful Sunset Park, 655 Sunset Drive in Sedona. This annual fall community campout has been scheduled for September 21 and 22, 2012.

The event begins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday evening and ends no later than 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. For only $15 per tent, participants will join others for a night of camping under the stars with telescopes to enjoy the beauty above followed by an early morning adult group yoga class and children’s circus art. Fun activities suitable for all ages are planned!

The fall campout is perfect for first time campers and seasoned campers wanting to enjoy camping closer to home. Sunset Park is located at 655 Sunset Drive in Sedona.

What is included in the $15 registration fee?

As adults set up tents at 5:30 p.m., children will be entertained with juggling, hula hooping and poi spinning. Children may enjoy running around the park and adults may enjoy sitting outside in the fresh air. Frisbees, balls and games will be provided for use.

A hot dog roast begins about 6:00 p.m. and, when the stars are visible, J.D. Maddy of the Astronomers of the Verde Valley will set-up telescopes for night sky viewing. Be sure to join other campers around the bonfire and roast s’mores provided by Parks and Recreation.

Wake early for a continental breakfast at 7:00 a.m. followed by a yoga class for adults and a circus class for children. Children will enjoy a short, guided hike on Lollipop Trail in the morning during the adult yoga class prior to the 10:00 a.m. campout close.
