Sedona AZ (December 26, 2012) – The City of Sedona is working with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality in offering an environment-friendly way of recycling your Christmas tree.

From Wednesday, December 26, 2012 through Friday, January 25, 2013, the City will be accepting Christmas trees for recycling into chips. Trees can be dropped off in the lot at the corner of Saddlerock Circle and State Route 89A. No yard debris please!

Remove all stands, ornaments, nails, lights and tinsel from the trees. The trees will be chipped on January 25, 2013 and given to the U.S. Forest Service to be used as mulch.

On January 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the City of Sedona and the City’s Sustainability Commission will sponsor its first “Christmas Tree Swap Program” as part of a citywide effort to recycle Christmas trees and reduce our community’s carbon footprint. On these dates at the Saddlerock and SR 89A location, the City of Sedona will also hand out free Arizona Cypress seedlings to participating residents while supplies last.

Merry Christmas and a Happy Tree Recycling New Year!
