Sedona Art in Public Places Has Two Openings

Sedona AZ-The City of Sedona Arts and Culture Commission is seeking two members for the Art In Public Places Committee. This Committee recommends policy on public art issues to the Commission with a goal to bring public art to the community through exhibits, donations, and art competitions. The deadline to return applications is Monday, September 19, 2011 at 5 PM in the City Clerk’s office. 

Members serve without pay and must be residents of the greater Sedona area. The term of service is three years. Appointments will be made by the Commission and the new Committee members will begin his or her term upon appointment. 

Application forms are available from the City Clerk at Sedona City Hall, 102 Roadrunner Drive, or by calling 928-282-3113. Send completed applications to “Art in Public Places Committee”, City Clerk’s Office, 102 Roadrunner Drive, Sedona, AZ 86336.

    The City of Sedona Art in Public Places Committee is proud to announce a new exhibition featuring Sedona Arts Center faculty artists. It includes the works of Libby Caldwell, Vince Fazio, Alok Hsu Kwang-han, and Susan Pitcairn. The exhibit can be viewed in the Council Chambers at Sedona City Hall, 102 Roadrunner Drive, through mid-October.

    The mission of the Sedona Arts Center is to provide diverse art experiences for individuals and the community through art classes, art workshops, art trips, exhibitions, special art events and community outreach programs.

    Another said art thefts are rising. Best to let Sedona art scene remain in private hands and keep the city out of the business of art.

    UPDATE (note new deadline): The City Arts and Culture Commission is seeking THREE members for the Art in Public Places Committee. The deadline to return applications is now Monday, October 24, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. to the City Clerk’s office. Application forms are available from the City’s website, http://www.SedonaAZ.gov, the City Clerk’s office located at Sedona City Hall, 102 Roadrunner Drive, or by calling (928) 282-3113. Submit completed applications to the City Clerk’s Office.

    The Committee is also proud to announce a new exhibition featuring members of Fiber Arts Sedona (FAS). The artwork of Margaret Anderson, Shirley Eichten Albrecht, Nancy Robb Dunst, Dee Durkee and Elnajean Martonyi may be viewed in the City Manager’s administration building and the Vultee Conference Room through January 2012.
