Gutierrez photograph provided by North Carolina law enforcement

Prescott AZ (August 10, 2012) – On July 24, 2012, detectives from the Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) task force executed a search warrant in the 800 block of Bird Street, Prescott, Arizona.

PANT detectives confirmed that a male living at this residence, who was identified by a photograph provided from North Carolina law enforcement officials, had a valid kidnapping and homicide warrant for his arrest in North Carolina. The man was currently using the name Daniel Aspuro Gutierrez.

Using the photograph and additional supporting evidence, PANT detectives positively identified Gutierrez prior to the service of a search warrant.

After locating 33-year-old Gutierrez, detectives found approximately 38 grams of methamphetamine and 6 grams of cocaine as well as a handgun inside the residence. Gutierrez was booked on several felonies including Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale, Misconduct Involving Weapons, and the homicide warrant.

Gutierrez is being held without bond.

PANT detectives are still attempting to determine the suspect’s true name as the investigation continues. Gutierrez is a confirmed illegal alien from Mexico.

The North Carolina homicide warrant stems from a December 2010 case in Caswell County, North Carolina where a gunshot victim was found laying alongside a roadway.

Citizens can contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions at (928) 771-3260. Release of the Gutierrez information was delayed due to an ongoing investigation.
