Save Our State Parks Rally

sedona red rocks state parksSedona AZ (January 25, 2010)Save Arizona State Parks from closing is the rallying cry for park supporters now heard across the state. Locally, Jerome State Park has closed and Fort Verde State Park in Camp Verde, Arizona, is scheduled to close March 29, 2010.

Red Rock State Park in Sedona is scheduled to close June 3, 2010.

The Verde Valley is facing the loss of major parks under the new Arizona budget proposal.

Urging lawmakers not to close the parks are supporters requesting that the state restore funding to its park system. They ask that citizens and park users voice opposition to the closings by calling, faxing, and or emailing the Governor and local legislators.

Birgit Loewenstein of the Benefactors of Red Rock State Park is advocating on behalf of the Red Rock State Park in Sedona, Arizona. She urges citizen support by saying, “Our state parks are important to our state and local economies. Ask legislators to restore funding for the State Park system.”

Contact numbers are as follow:

There will be a public rally in support of State Parks on Monday, February 1, 2010, from 10:30 AM until approximately 1:00 PM on the Arizona House of Representatives lawn, 1700 West Washington Street, Phoenix, Arizona.
