Safer Sedona PAC Questions Arizona Liberty Election Standing

Sedona AZ (October 17, 2017) – The following is a letter to the SedonaEye.com editor:

Dear Editor:

Below is a copy of my Formal Complaint with the Yavapai County Elections Department against Michael Schroeder and Arizona Liberty for illegally campaigning and electioneering without filing the appropriate documents.

From: Wendy Tanzer <wvtanzer@hotmail.com>

Subject: FORMAL COMPLAINT AGAINST MICHAEL SCHROEDER AND ARIZONA LIBERTY

To whom it may concern:

Attached is a photograph of a full color display advertisement published in the Sedona Red Rock News. (SedonaEye.com editor: Not reprinted here.) I have taken two more photos of same, clearly identifying the date on which it appeared in the paper and the “disclaimer” at the bottom. As ad content and payment must be submitted no later than two (2) days before publication, this is the 10th day past the date upon which the two above named entities exceeded the $1,100.00 limit before filing as a Political Action Committee.

Full Page Display Ad   $ 1,285.00

Color                                    290.00

35% surcharge for

placement on Page 3         551.25

TOTAL                             $ 2,126.25

In addition to the above, Arizona Liberty has produced and displayed 14 YouTube Videos (You Tube Arizona Liberty) in opposition to the Sedona Fire District Bond – beginning three months ago. At an average cost of between $1,500 – $3,000 per video, their illegal campaign/electioneering has violated all election rules and regulations. Even if the videos had been produced for free, they would still have been required to account for the costs by declaring “in-kind” contributions. Arizona Liberty also maintains a website, the content of which is clearly against the SFD Bond.

SAFER Sedona, the fully filed and registered PAC in favor of the bond has complied with every election filing rule set forth and cannot abide those who behave as if they are above the law.

Please advise as to what our remedy might be and what consequences/fines/actions may be imposed.

Respectfully,

WENDY V. TANZER
(Sedona AZ)

Its a nice try, and I wish you could make some headway….But these crazy right wing hate groups are funded by very rich and powerful people!

Just look at Americans for Prosperity, or Freedom Works…..Thats just a few of the dozen out there…..They get these little guys to fall in line and fight for their causes not regular people….

Perfect example is the “death tax”….It only kicks in after 5.5 million for a single person, but its one of their battle cries…..Just puppets being manipulated by the ultra wealthy…
Best of luck on your endeavors!

  2. Rich collister says:

    I Love it

Mike S and Dwight K of AZ Liberty are going to “straighten out” the Sedona Fire District aye!? Despite the fact that that neither knows how’s a fire district operates nor have any of the above ever stepped foot in a firehouse nor do they know what Fire Deptmenrs actually do…. Which is by itself quite laughable.

Now apparently they can’t even put together a very small campaign without violating campaign rules… why to go mike and Dwight .

It’s amazing your business ever survived!!!
    What a joke

  3. Tony T says:

This confirms what most thinking people know. When you don’t have a solid argument, try and get the other party disqualified, make personal attacks, cry it will make you safer.

Do you like that they say the Patriot Act makes you safer and your treatment at airports? They have never caught a terrorist, but they have searched and humiliated a lot of children and old ladies. But you’re safer, they say.

They say Sedona fire puts their lives on the line for you every day to make you safer. Yet in over 20 years no Sedona Fireman has lost his life. Fireman is not one of the 10 most dangerous jobs in the country.

When they don’t have an argument, they try to use the system against free speech.

Paying more does not make you safer.

    Vote No on higher taxes.

  4. Ted says:

You’ll pay, both of you if you pursue this line of thinking and argument. Here’s $350 an hr of free advice.

Go vote. That’s your outlet. Get others to vote your way. Save your pocket money.

  5. No Surprise Here says:

I am not surprised. This group is all smoke and mirrors and not this. I believe that this is a crime in the state of AZ. I hope that the fines are extensive.

  6. David Schwartz says:

You mean this group of 2 that decided to work with the fools that were recalled from SFD years ago for throwing money in the toilet? AZ Liberty is a sham and now we find out that they aren’t properly running a campaign???? I sure hope that the people of Sedona see right through this sham.

  7. Tony T says:

Put the wet stuff on the red stuff. Isn’t that line used in the fire academy?

I’m sure the Department of Homeland security would say no one knows what they do either. They spend millions doing it and create long lines at the airport, and they have never caught a terrorist. .

Sedona Fire District has a station within 5 minutes of 2 other stations that gets on average one call a day at a cost of about $11,000 per call, it might be less, but it is still excessive. . Would you be safer if Sedona fire built another new station, with better living quarters, a second kitchen and a nicer weight room? Sedona Fire and their supporters say so.

The best example I can give are the recent California fires. When things get really bad the Fire Department is helping you leave the area, and leaving with you. Hero’s all.

Vote no. Then require all fire personnel live in the district, you will be much safer. Or slightly less safe is that the fire personnel live within 30 miles like almost all other departments, say Flagstaff for example. You fire district supporters are all for safety, right?

    Vote No.

  8. The Thought Proctologist says:

    Hey Y’all

Better check Title 48 of ARS. You have to form a PAC if you’re a group opposed to the election of a flesh and blood bona-fide candidate running for office, but not so for the purpose of opposing a specific local ISSUE. Try doing your homework and cut out all the noise here.

  9. Wendy's wrong as usual says:

Nice try but your argument has no legal basis. No PAC is needed for expenditures on local issues.

  10. Jim says:

Red Rock Snews live stream of fire board debate is more like liar stream. Non existant. News flash bond fails. Gotcha losers. This scam has to fail. Then we will have a safer sedona instead of a poorer sedona.

  11. Wendy Tanzer says:

    Uh….NO Wendy is NOT WRONG.

    ARS Title 16 Section 905 and 906

My LEGITIMATE complaint stands as submitted.

  12. Joan, VOC says:

Doubt this meets the standard necessary, Wendy Tanzer, but check with the AG office. AG mostly won’t pursue cases others can pay to litigate in lower courts; its not in the AG best interest to waste taxpayer money on ineffectual and long drawn out litigations few consider of import.

  13. Wendy Tanzer says:

    Thank you, Joan….

This is not a matter for the AZ AG. At least not yet. The Yavapai County Attorney will take a go at it first. It is certainly worthy of some investigation. In the meantime, we appreciate your support.

DO THE RIGHT THING. Vote YES on the Sedona Fire District Bond!

  14. West Sedona Dave says:

Thank you wendy for the effort!…..To many shlubs around here dont understand the job of what the county attorney does for a living….(or the state one)

If laws are broken, thats what they were hired for…..to look into the matter!

Good luck, your fighting with a group that is funded by the elite 1%!

President Trump thanked former President Jimmy Carter on Saturday for “nice remarks” after Carter said the media is hard on Trump.

“Just read the nice remarks by President Jimmy Carter about me and how badly I am treated by the press (Fake News). Thank you Mr. President!” Trump tweeted.
