Rimrock Man Leaves Dead Woman at Firehouse

Daniel Harrison arrested for tampering with a dead body

Daniel Harrison arrested for abandoning a dead body

Sedona AZ (May 15, 2013) – On May 12, 2013, at approximately ten o’clock in the morning, a man pulled up to the Montezuma Rimrock Fire Station and told an on-duty fireman that the female seated inside his truck was apparently dead. The fireman attempted CPR as the man drove away without identifying either himself or the woman. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate and within several hours identified the deceased woman as 25-year-old Tiffany McGinnis of Rimrock, Arizona. Using information obtained from the effort to learn the woman’s name and background, YCSO detectives contacted 30-year-old Daniel Harrison who resides in the 5700 block of Laura Lane, Rimrock, and identified Harrison’s truck as the vehicle seen by the fireman earlier.

During questioning, Harrison acknowledged that McGinnis was his roommate for the past several days. He told YCSO that the day prior, after returning home from work, he found McGinnis on the side of a nearby residence, incoherent and distraught. He escorted McGinnis back to his house and she eventually fell asleep in her bedroom after dinner.

Harrison was aware McGinnis took prescription medications and thought the drugs were having an effect on her behavior.

When Harrison awoke Sunday morning, he checked on McGinnis and found her unresponsive and cold to the touch. He claimed he could not find his phone, so he put her in his truck and drove to the local fire station. Detectives conducted a search of Harrison’s home as part of this on-going investigation.

Harrison was eventually arrested on a felony charge of Abandonment of a Dead Body and Tampering with Physical Evidence. He was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center and released on a $3000 bond.

Cause of death for Tiffany McGinnis is pending a report from the Yavapai County Medical Examiner.

Citizens can contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions at 928-771-3260.

Betsy, she was not a “scuzz bag”! She was a mother, daughter, sister, aunt & grand-daughter. The correct response is calling 911. I certainly hope no one is ever left with you in that situation.

  3. at 25 she’s a mother doing drugs & dies on a stranger bed/the world is full of scuzzy druggies and amy they’re super scary people w/o values & no self control like jody arias & cruel to family and their own children because they’re living in a world all about me! now the world of all about tiffany is death!

  4. Amy says:

I’m sorry Tildie, were you there? There is no mention of her dying in a stranger’s bed , it states “her” bedroom. There isn’t any mention of her being cruel to her family . .it sounds like an ill attempt at slander of a twenty-five year old.

  5. amy if you are a friend or member of the family i send my sympathy
