Residents Report Apparent Sedona Earthquake

Sedona AZ (November 30, 2014) – In Breaking News tonight, at approximately 11:00 p.m. residents of Sedona, Arizona reported being startled by an apparent earthquake that shook the area.

Susan Broude reported feeling the tremor in uptown Sedona while Dana De Luz of the Village of Oak Creek stated that ‘something just rocked my house.’

Karambir Singh Khalsa of west Sedona asked his social network, ‘Was that an earthquake that just rolled through west Sedona?”

The USGS National Earthquake Information Center reported an earthquake epicenter 7 miles north of Sedona, Arizona, at 10:57 p.m. this evening. There are no known injuries resulting from the 4.9 quake at this time. ADOT has been contacted for a report of SR 89A and other highway damages.

    Yes I felt it too here in West Sedona.
    Being an original Californian We take bets on the magnitude, so since it was 7 miles north, I’m guessing an upper 5. to a low 6. but it’s hard to know since we’re dealing with a different geological formation here of Rock.

    A 4.7-magnitude earthquake occurred near Sedona Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

    USGS reported the earthquake hit approximately seven miles north of Sedona, Arizona, at 10:57 p.m.

    Arizona residents in Flagstaff, Holbrook, Cottonwood and Kachina Village have reported feeling the quake.

  4. It was 6 miles deep at the epicenter, 7 miles north of Sedona. On Oak Creek SR 89A in its aftermath, a rock slide blocked south bound lane with mild debris littering north bound lane.

    It was certain that it was an earthquake that measured 4.9 and was documented by someone whose livelihood is measuring these events and info was sent to Sedona Eye to publish her results.
