Sedona AZ (May 23, 2012) – In celebration of National Trails Day and Get Outdoors Day, the Red Rock Ranger District will waive Red Rock Pass day-use fees for the first two Saturdays in June, including June 2 and 9, 2012.

The public is encouraged to get out and explore over 15 miles of new multiple-use trails now available in the Dry Creek area, Soldiers Wash area, and west of State Route 179 near Bell Rock. These trails include Aerie, Mescal, Chuck Wagon, Soldiers Wash trail network, and the Slim Shady Trail.

These two fee-free days cover the entire Red Rock Pass area, including Palatki, Honanki, and V Bar V cultural sites, and approximately 300 miles of multiple-use trails.

Areas not included in the fee waiver program are campgrounds and recreation areas managed under concession contract, including Call of the Canyon, Grasshopper Point, and Crescent Moon Ranch.

Additional fee-free days in 2012 include National Public Lands Day (September 29) and Veterans Day Weekend (November 10-12).

This event is offered in cooperation with other agencies that collect recreation fees under authority of the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (REA), including the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Land Management.
