Prescott Man Arrested for Arson

Prescott AZ (May 31, 2012) – Arizona Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested and booked 51-year-old Steven Hammes for one count of Arson involving the May 31, 2012 fire on Grey Hawk Point, Prescott. Initial bond was set at one million dollars and Hammes remains in the Camp Verde Detention Center.

Detectives began the investigation into the cause of the fire and early on developed indications the house fire was intentionally set. Further leads were obtained by detectives that identified Steven Hammes as a suspect in the cause of the fire.

Hammes is listed as the owner of the Grey Hawk Point home.

Based on the results of the investigation, detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Hammes and eventually located him in Prescott Valley on Hoffman Road.

  1. I live close to that house. Even before the fire i knew that house would burn. Careless July 4 2011 use of fireworks concerned me along with the violent arguments heard by all. This was not a good situation from the start. I can sleep easy now knowing that the fire danger is over and it only claimed your own property. You are a selfish POS because you could care less of the danger you put others in. You should have stayed in the house after you perfected your art. I didn’t know you however i can only imagine the type of home you provided for your children or the children in that house. Did the barking dogs survive or did you consider them part of the structure. Million dollar bond is way too small. Wonder why it burnt so hot humm you must have a special meth-od i guess
