Phoenix Attorney Takes Money and is Disbarred

State Bar of Arizona logoPhoenix AZ (July 5, 2013)The Presiding Disciplinary Judge of the Arizona Supreme Court issued an order disbarring Raya Tahan of Phoenix, Arizona, on April 9, 2013.

During the State Bar of Arizona’s investigation, Tahan was found to have failed to abide by three clients’ decisions concerning the objectives of the representation. She also failed to reasonably communicate with her clients and ultimately abandoned them.

In one of the three cases, Tahan accepted a fee but failed to perform the legal services for which she was paid, in addition to failing to return the client’s files and refund unearned fees.

An aggravating factor was Tahan’s failure to cooperate with the State Bar of Arizona’s investigation.

In addition to being disbarred, Tahan was ordered to pay $625 in client restitution, as well as $2,019.35 to the State Bar of Arizona for all costs and expenses associated with the disciplinary proceedings.
