Paulden resident Erica Danielle Miller arrested and charged with burglary

Sedona AZ (October 1, 2013) – On September 17, 2013, 36-year-old Erica Miller reported harassment by her Paulden area neighbor who accused her of stealing a water cooler bottle full of coins. When Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies contacted the neighbor, he maintained a belief Miller had taken his coins and explained that Miller was allowed to graze her horses on his property and, in return, she would house clean for him. On September 10, the neighbor told Miller he would be away from his home for a while and gave her permission to check on her horses. She did not have permission to enter his home while he was away, however, when he returned, the water cooler bottle of coins containing several hundred dollars was missing.

Since the theft, the victim hoped Miller would confess and return the coins as he did want to report her to law enforcement if the coins were returned. A Yavapai County Sheriff’s office deputy re-contacted Miller and she denied any involvement in the theft.

On September 18, 2013, the victim notified the investigating deputy that an employee at the Paulden “Pink Store” on AZ Highway 89 had contact with Miller when she tried to exchange a bottle of coins for currency. The employee declined her request. Miller was allowed to buy gasoline with some of the change and later, during the same day, another clerk at the store agreed to exchange $280.00 in rolled coin from Miller for currency. The deputy was able to review a video, recorded September 10, 2013, showing Miller at the counter with the victim’s bottle of coins.

Miller was eventually located at a Chino Valley business on September 22, 2013, and arrested. She admitted to the burglary of coins from the victim’s home. Miller dumped the emptied coin container in a trash receptacle near the Pink Store.

On September 22, 2013, Miller was arrested and booked for Burglary and Theft at the Camp Verde Detention Center, Camp Verde. Miller remains in-custody on a $5000 bond.

Citizens can contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions at 928-771-3260 or the YCSO website.
