Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Diane Douglas

Sedona AZ (February 16, 2015) -Superintendent of Public Instruction Diane Douglas, Arizona Department of Education (ADE), wants parents and teachers to have a direct impact on standards that impact their children. She is asking both for input on draft versions of updated Arizona standards for foreign and native languages and physical education.

“I am excited to hear their feedback and will work with my staff to ensure their thoughts are incorporated into the final versions of these drafts,” said Douglas.

The draft standards available for review will be used to revise Arizona’s current standards.

Parents and other education stakeholders across Arizona may comment on the revised standards until March 2, 2015. In order to encourage as many people as possible to contribute, the Department has established five methods by which feedback may be submitted. Details about these methods are available on the Department’s website for both the Foreign and Native Language Standards and the Physical Education Standards.

In addition to soliciting feedback via an online survey, email, U.S. mail, and fax, the Department will also hold three public webinars for each set of standards. These virtual events will give interested parties an opportunity to share thoughts with Department staff and the rest of the audience. Comments from all sessions will be recorded.

  1. I predict that Supt. Douglas won’t get to stick around because she’s one of us, and the “paid for” Governor Ducey and AZ legislators of both parties will sell your kids down the road for a penny. You need to support this woman as your last hope. Forget about your petty issues, this is a major issue.

Even Jerry Brown of California and that Texas Governor agree on Common Core having no worth and that it fails to educate kids, disenfranchises parents and teachers and school districts and state education departments (Why is any Board of Ed in favor? They become irrelevant after its implementation – read the program). Far left and far right see it, explain to me why it is here in Arizona? You’re not happy being #49, you want to be #50?

Big corporations will earn the profits from it and our President refused to turn away from huge corporate ownership because he’s looking for a cushy afterWHlife. Think Bush NCLB was bad, on education Pres. Obama has a far worse six year track record.

  3. Cannot help but wonder how few parents and teachers will bother to do this? If you classroom teachers think your parents don’t give a damn, it’s probably because you don’t give a damn. Remember that when you bad mouth them.

Remember when you’re complaining you had a chance to change it and be heard but you didn’t give a damn. Hope to find out I’m wrong. I’m going to try and do my share.
