Overnight Closures Continue on I-17

ADOT Interstate 17 logoSedona AZ (December 17, 2013) – The Arizona Interstate 17 climbing lane project south of Camp Verde will require several one-hour closures overnight throughout this week.

Each night, starting tonight through Thursday, December 19, the AZ I-17 will be closed in both directions from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and from 1:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. and then again for an hour at 2:30 a.m. as blasting continues along the interstate.

Northbound AZ I-17 will be stopped at State Route 169 and southbound I-17 traffic will be stopped at General Crook Trail until the work is completed and the roadway is reopened.

In addition to the full closures, I-17 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions through the work zone from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

adot highwayDuring construction, bicyclists are not permitted through the project work zone as the shoulders along I-17 are closed. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations. For driver and worker safety there is a reduced speed limit through the work zone.

  1. Lane restrictions on AZ I-17 this week for guardrail repair – Northbound restrictions between Black Canyon City and Cordes start today

    The Arizona Department of Transportation will repair guardrail on northbound Interstate 17 from mileposts 245 to 262, from Black Canyon City to Cordes Junction, until 5 p.m. on Jan. 13 and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15.

    The work will require alternating lane restrictions during work hours to provide a safe work zone for maintenance crews.

    The speed limit through the work zones will be reduced to 45 mph during work hours. Minimal delays are expected, however ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

    Each night, starting tonight through Thursday, January 23, the I-17 will be closed in both directions from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., 1 to 2 a.m. and again from 2:30 to 3:30 a.m. as blasting continues along the interstate.

    ADOT urges drivers to adjust their travel schedules or allow extra travel time to reach their destinations.

    In addition to the full closures, I-17 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions through the work zone from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

    The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

    ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
