Sedona Heritage Museum

Sedona AZ (February 3, 2014) The Sedona Heritage Museum is hosting its next Living History speaker series on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at 10:00 in the morning. The hour long program, “Is there a Doctor in the House?” by Dr. Paul Schnur M.D., will be a presentation on the history of early Verde Valley medical care.

Dr. Schnur will review the development of health care in the Verde Valley since 1866 when the first doctors arrived with the U.S. Army, and follow its progression to the early days of Marcus J. Lawrence Hospital, now the Verde Valley Medical Center.

Dr. Schnur has been on the staff of the Verde Valley Medical Center since 1963, practicing general medicine and plastic surgery until his retirement. His father, Dr. Leo Schnur, M.D., was the first full time medical doctor in Sedona. Dr. Paul Schnur also will discuss his families’ 68 years of health care contributions to the Verde Valley.

This is a free event and open to the public.

Every year, the Sedona Heritage Museum presents a series of Living History talks. Speakers include descendants of pioneers, long-time residents with historical stories to share or other story-tellers about history. The Museum is located at 735 Jordan Road in Jordan Historical Park in Uptown Sedona, and is open daily 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For more information, call 928-282-7038.
