Don’t Drive Drunk!

Sedona AZ (July 9, 2014) – Through grant funding made possible by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Tri-City DUI Task Force participated in a DUI Saturation Patrol on July 5, 2014, as part of a sustained effort to combat impaired driving in our communities.

In total, 15 officers from the Prescott Police Department, Prescott Valley Police Department, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Arizona Department of Public Safety participated in this detail.

As a result, 176 traffic stops were made resulting in 9 people being arrested for driving impaired:  Out of the 9 people arrested, 1 was charged with Aggravated DUI and 3 were charged with Extreme DUI; having a blood alcohol concentration of .150 or greater but less than .200. One driver was arrested and charged with Super Extreme DUI after he was found to be driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .221, almost three times the legal limit.

In addition to the aforementioned arrests, officers contacted ten sober designated drivers during the detail.

The Tri-City DUI Task Force will continue to conduct high profile details throughout the year, and would like to remind motorists that driving impaired is never worth the monetary loss or the physical and emotional devastation that can be caused by making a bad choice to drink and drive.
