Sedona AZ (October 17, 2010) – The following is a letter to the SedonaEye.com editor:
Arrived in Moscow!!! WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! No words to describe yet this type of city. We’re staying at the National Hotel of Moscow. (Our hotel room is 2 floors!)
This morning we left Kiev and I learned so, so much! Ukraine was very cheap with a 3 course dinner and coffee costing 4 Euro but Russia is extremely expensive. The fridge list of drinks in our hotel room sells mineral water for 18 dollars. The grocery store sells it for 9 dollars! Water!! It’s a big problem since the average worker lives on approximately 300 dollars a month- and the rich live on more than 10,000 dollars a month. (There’s no middle class). You either see a Ferrari car on the street or a beat-up 1960’s car that looks like you have to push it to work.
We have a student that was rejected at Passport control because her Russian Visa inaccurately wrote her as “Male.” We eventually had to leave without her, after waiting 1 hour. She has a family friend in Russia who is coming to see how she’s doing. She must wait for a brand new visa!!! Luckily, mine stated I was female so I was free to pass!!
