Grand Canyon Receives Subaru Support for Park Needs

national park foundation logoSedona AZ (March 4, 2015) –  Grand Canyon National Park is one of four national parks to receive a 2015 Subaru Outback thanks to a partnership between the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, and Subaru of America.

The donated Subaru will help Grand Canyon Association, the official nonprofit partner of Grand Canyon National Park, support park needs including educational and resource management projects, traffic management, travel to gateway communities, and more. One such use will be to transport Grand Canyon National Park environmental education rangers to regional classrooms where they are invited to help educate the next generation of park stewards.

“This generous and valuable donation from Subaru will help the staff at Grand Canyon National Park travel to areas in this vast region to ensure protection and preservation of this treasured land,” said Dave Uberuaga, Superintendent of Grand Canyon National Park.

When the 2015 Outback was introduced last year, Subaru and the National Park Foundation teamed up to encourage more people to visit and volunteer at America’s 400-plus national parks. Since 2013, Subaru has donated more than $1.4 million to the National Park Foundation through its annual “Share the Love” campaign.

“Subaru is proud to expand its support of the National Park Foundation to include the donation of these four all-new Subaru Outback vehicles,” said Alan Bethke, vice president of Subaru of America marketing. “With its all-wheel drive, ground clearance and rugged capability, the Outback is the perfect vehicle to safely transport national park staff throughout the year.”
