James Yunis arrested for Phoenix burglary

Sedona AZ (January 22, 2014) – On January 16, 2014, a home in the Phoenix area was burglarized and a report documenting the incident was completed by Phoenix Police Department officers. The stolen items included electronics and jewelry valued in total at $8,400. The burglary victim also informed police that a GPS tracking device had been installed in one of the stolen items.

Later that evening, the victim was able to track that item by Internet to the 2600 block of North Sunburst Road, Chino Valley. Arizona. After confirming the item was stationary, the burglary victim called the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office to report the information.

On January 17, 2014, a deputy and detective were sent to investigate a home on Sunburst Road in Chino Valley. The house matched a satellite image photo created using GPS coordinates generated by the stolen property GPS locater.

The homeowner explained that her son, 37-year old James Yunis, resided with her but was not home at the time. She allowed detectives to enter and search the residence. At this time, a locating beacon was activated by the victim that drew detectives to James’ bedroom. The detectives eventually found several thousand dollars’ worth of stolen property from the Phoenix burglary under his bed.

Yunis was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center for “Theft-Control of Stolen Property” and remains in-custody on a $10,000 bond.

A joint investigation with the Phoenix Police Department is on-going to establish the suspect’s apparent connection to this burglary.

Citizens can contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions at 928-771-3260.
