Kaelyn Curry of Clarkdale survives a fiery Beaverhead Flat road crash with the aid of good Samaritans

Sedona AZ (January 23, 2015) – Just before 6:00 this morning, at mile marker 3 on Beaverhead Flat Road, Kaelyn Curry, 21, of Clarkdale, Arizona, was driving northbound when her vehicle left the roadway, overturned, and landed on a small hill along the Cornville highway.

The crashed vehicle was a 1999 maroon Jeep Laredo from which Curry was either ejected or crawled through a window. Three good Samaritans found her lying in a ditch about twenty feet from the jeep, its engine compartment fully engulfed in flames. As the fire grew, “popping” sounds were heard coming from the burning vehicle and, believing the jeep might explode at any time, the three men lifted and carried Curry from the crash site to safety.

One of the men called 911. Deputies indicated they could see flames nearly three miles away as they drove towards the scene. Local fire department responders arrived, treated the driver, and extinguished the flames.

Airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center, a preliminary examination determined Curry’s injuries are not life threatening.

Citizens may contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions about this accident or other concerns by calling 928-771-3260.
