Get Out The Vote Rally

vote booth voting electionSedona AZ (July 14, 2014)The last day to register to vote for the August 26 Primary Election is July 28, 2014! Early ballots will be mailed beginning July 30, 2014.

It is time to get to know the candidates running for election to represent you, the voter, at the local, state and national level. It is time to encourage your friends, neighbors, organization memberships, co-workers, and family to VOTE and remind them their vote does count!

The League of Women Voters of Greater Verde Valley and SpeakOut Arizona have teamed up to have a Get Out the Vote Rally (GOTV rally) on July 17 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Cottonwood Recreation Center, 150 South 6th Street, Cottonwood, Arizona.

speak out arizonaAt the rally, we will have Get Out The Vote materials for you to share with organizations you represent as well as your family and friends.

We have several goals we want to accomplish:

  • Increase the % of registered voters who vote – especially those who are registered no preference (Independent)
  • Encourage the candidates to talk about the issues important to Arizonans – education that prepares students for college and a career; protection of our natural assets – water, open spaces, and forests; infrastructure – transit, transportation, roads, airports, rail and broadband;  adequate health insurance for all; finding opportunities for keeping our young talent here; and increased job opportunities
  • Support efforts to involve people in their communities as a way to strengthen their community’s “sense of place.”
