Forest Service and Water Tank Proposals

Sedona AZ (November 15, 2010) – In a Letter to the Sedona Times Editor, Candace Delaney of Sedona, Arizona, writes the following about an attempt by the U.S. Forest Service to install a million gallon plus tank in site of Sedona subdivisions without proper notice. She writes:

Good Morning all.  And its the last day to send off our letters regarding the water tank. If you haven’t, please do.

Like most of you, I’ve gone with no action.  The amount of misinformation that was circulated on this issue was truly “Baffle them with B-S-”

The nail in the coffin, so to speak, was the article in Weds. RRN.  The site they showed in that article is TOTALLY different than the sites mentioned in the letter that was sent out by the Forest Service!

According to that letter, the site mentioned in the newspaper article wasn’t even being considered!!  The three sites in contention were Broken Arrow out of site of everyone’s homes but Sarah McLean’s, below the Chapel near Little Horse, and up Schnebly in the Munds Wilderness.

Beyond that, we were never given any information about the impact that this project would have on the city side of the line.  I’m still waiting for the city to offer us information on where and how these tanks are going to be connected to the water source.  How much construction will that entail?  Where?  How long?  As Eddie and I have discussed, digging up Morgan road would seriously impact our access to emergency services.

So far, the Forest Service says their only concern is the impact to the Forest.  The City, last info I had, which is old, was “its not our concern if it’s in the forest.”

Does the city think that water will magically appear in the tanks and then magically be transported to people’s homes?

Hopefully, enough people OUTSIDE of this area will also support No Action.
