Arizona Veterans Highway I-17 litter

Sedona AZ-A Sedona Eye Letter to the Editor from contributing Sedona Times Publishing writer, Gary Chamberlain, provides an update to Folksville USA anti-litter initiatives in Arizona.

Chamberlain writes, “In and Out Magazine has helped to bring more attention to the “cancer” that is slowly killing the economy of Arizona. Litter destroys communities in the same manner as it destroys neighborhood streets, highways and byways (The Broken Window Theory).

Businesses and people that destroy the beauty of America and disgrace our Arizona Veterans Highway I-17 by dumping trash and tossing litter should seriously think about the repercussions of those actions. A beautiful scenic highway, Arizona I-17 was designated by name to honor Arizona veterans but it is constantly being bombarded by the lazy, corrupt and irresponsible.

As you travel our Arizona Highways, what do your eyes see? Does the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Adopt-A-Highway anti-litter program justify the tax dollars spent to support it? How much of the same trash do you see on the highway for months on end? I would like to thank SedonaEye.com and Sedona Times Publishing for news coverage of Folksville USA and my own efforts to “beautify Arizona and America” and In and Out Magazine Anthem for the link to this article.”
