Florida Man Arrested for 2007 Arizona Murder

Jack Rider arrested in Florida as a suspect in a 2007 Camp Verde AZ murder of a young woman

Camp Verde AZ (November 1, 2012) – On October 30, 2012, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office detectives, in conjunction with U.S. Marshals, arrested 32-year-old Jack Rider in Florida for an Arizona homicide.

Over the past few months, detectives developed information linking Rider to the death of a Bullhead City (Arizona) woman, 22-year-old Krystil Wilson. The incident occurred July 19, 2007, near the Beasley Flats Verde River access on Salt Mine Road in Camp Verde.

YCSO detectives travelled to the Pensacola area after learning Rider’s whereabouts.

On July 19, 2007, deputies arrived at the Camp Verde location along with EMS personnel regarding an apparent drowning involving Wilson. Rider was present and claimed he had just rescued Wilson from the Verde River after noticing her body floating face down.

In recent developments, detectives acquired information and evidence that Rider actually strangled Wilson while swimming with her in the river.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are withholding further details at this time.

Rider was booked at the Escambia County Jail in Pensacola, Florida, on one count of Homicide, pending extradition to Yavapai County.

Citizens can contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions at 928-771-3260.

Its crazy that major details are being left out early on…were they the only 2 at the river that day? What were the circumstances in which this NEW information came about? A medical examiner, ems, and deputies present at the scene ALL got it wrong 5 years ago? I could go on but I’ll just wait until it all comes out.

Oh and if they were searching for him because he was a fugitive…why didn’t they check the address he left for them when he left az at the end of 2008..he got a dui in az right before he left..that’s the ONLY thing on his record from Arizona to fl.

This is not a violent man or a criminal. This is not a man who would ever lift a finger to harm someone especially not a woman. this is ridiculous. They can do whatever they want, say whatever they want…anyone with half a brain and Google can look up court records from Arizona to Florida. They speak for themselves…or just keep believing whatever the media and whoever else puts out…maybe they’ll say chickens are falling from the sky tomorrow and everyone will run out with their frying pans.

It is amazing that people he knew have come forward with his plans to do this, for all that know him. He left a trail of evidence behind which is now coming back to haunt him. He was methodical in his detail of how he was going to do this. It will cost him his freedom, and possibly more for what he did. To his family & friends, wait for the trial and find out the truth. We welcome him back to arizona for his participation & Incarceration : )

The warrant was signed by a federal court judge (JUST CHECKED) after he reviewed the case, You know that they will sign anything without adequate justification. So don’t worry, it will all be over soon & he will be home with his family. You know he can just pick up where he left off with his life. My question is this it will be at least a year before he goes to trial, and it will most assuredly be 2 years before it is completely over, by then he & his immediate family will most surely be financially detroyed. Will they be there at all the pretrial hearngs prior to the actual trial? I bet the victims family will. Being that they are from that side of the states. Think about it FLA to PHOE 2 to 3 times in a 2 month period for a year or so, Hmmm, plus you know public defenders are the best lawyers in the world,, They will need to hit the powerball to make it to all of the hearings. Oh well he has good friends in AZ that are gonna be by his side I am sure, some are already there to give him some form of help. (even if it is to testify against him). There will be no bail for him, due to the fugitive status. He is gonna be there a long time I think. Sometimes its the quiet ones that have the most to hide!!! Welcome we’re gonna make you famous!!!

His status as a fugitive is legal terminology, not because he was running from anything. While he is in florida, because its out of state, thats just the way to hold him on an out of state charge. I don’t want to go back and forth. there’s nothing to argue over. this is a horrible, sad situation. Belittle me, threaten me…Of course…others have different views than me. A face has been put to a reawakened hurt. So that hurt turns to anger. But the word of a criminal isn’t enough for me. The judicial warrant signed by the judge was quashed (recalled) but since you just checked, I guess you knew that. Its crazy how other things are getting completely left out. It blows my mind that no one has mentioned certain details. and the media has even added outright lies that we ALL know aren’t true, but it makes for a good story. But no, I don’t care if it takes 100 years and if I don’t have anything but 2 nickels to rub together, I will always be there. I respect that this was a horrible tragedy. But I just wish people would really think about what is being said and where it is coming from. As opposed to facts. The same facts that have always been there, since day 1. ..but I guess that doesn’t matter. And all this “evidence” he left must have been there the whole year and a half he stayed and should have been there the last 5 years…I don’t worry about what everyone else is or is not going to do for him. I just know I’ll be there. For better or worse. If that makes me an easy target for cruel jokes and criticism, so be it. God bless EVERYONE involved. The last thing I want to do is upset anyone, but I will always stand up for what I believe and know…and I know him better than anyone and I believe in him just like for 5 years everyone else has.

This is a sad tale, of a loved one lost and another to possibly be lost. There are certain details that are not coming to light at this time. Alot of emotion is being played out. However the saga is playing out in the courtroom as the days go by and both sides are waiting for justice to be served. I sympathize with both sides of the families. If there is a innocent or guilty party on which to blame this on we need to know the answers. The whole Idea of what or who is wrong must be brought to light over the next year or so, This is the reality of a court system that must allow for time to ponder the so called evidence proving innocence or guilt.

As crazy as it must seem; the fact is that alot of emotion, time, money must be put forth for all the truth to be aquired in the case. There appears to be alot of hard evidence on one side,But alot of family and friends say the suspect is harmless, & always has been. We know ot of a Individuals mindset, or personal desires deep inside their soul. Be it good, or evil towards people. It will most assuredly have its costs to both sides of the case. Either with the victims family, or suspects Family losing to the justice sysytem in the end. What will be most Important is how the jurors see the evidence, If and when we get to a trial phase in this case. That is how our judicial system will work for either party. This will not go away until it goes to trial, for there is no statute of limitation on murder. It must go through a court phase so both families have some closure to this Horrible event. So I for one will wait and watch as the Judicial system run the gauntlet and the pain of loss becomes real for either of these familes over the next 12 to 18 months….

As a law student I have been given a assignment to follow a case and I chose this one. In reading the above comments I am trying to understand how anyone knows what evidence is involved in the case? It is my understanding that evidence isn’t presented until the Defendant appears in court. If I am wrong will someone please correct me. Thank you.

  9. john says:

Evidence most often is offered to both sides prior to plea, for consideration. Also it is held from public view until trial discovery, or in actual trial from a witness testimony. ( pro or con) There is much to be learned from this case, For the Defendants Family & Victims Family. It will be a no win situation for either side I feel. It will be a painful battle for everyone, due to the length & state of mind on either side of the battle lines.

Good luck Jack. I was informed of this disturbing saga just today. The truth will be found through all of this, and you will be able to re-join your family soon. This poorly written, brief, amateur story disgusts me, as does the sudden “findings” of evidence of strangulation 6 years later.

I’m not a medical doctor, but from everything I know, strangulation is very easily detected (most often even on the scene). Two different types of strangulation can occur. The cartoid artery can be blocked, but this requires proper amount of pressure and would show signs of it (bruising, etc.). This is the quickest and most efficient way. The other form of strangulation would be to block airflow, and subsequently crushing the trachea. Again…extensive bruising, internal damage, etc. Not even mentioning the much less complex ways of “murder” in that situation (drowning, broken neck, etc.)….*sigh* I digress.

This would have been discovered on the scene or VERY shortly afterwards, especially in the medical examination. Not six years later.

Tabby, I’m sorry for what your family has gone through. Know you have caring friends there for you. You will see your husband soon. Hang in there.

thank you for your support “anonymous” pc new :) shocked there are still people with common sense in the world who can think for themselves and don’t just take what is spoon fed to them in the “media”. It amazes me the lies and twists written, when the truth is stranger than fiction. They lie about everything, from facts surrounding the case, to what happens in the courtroom. thanks again for your support :) and for speaking out.
