Bergren was arrested while transporting medicinal grade marijuana from Washington to Texas

Sedona AZ (May 2, 2013) – An alert Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office K9 Deputy stopped a gray 2012 Chrysler sedan driven by 29-year-old Gregory Bergren for a speeding violation on Arizona Interstate 40 at milepost 135 in Yavapai County.

During the conversation with driver Bergren, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After obtaining a consent search, the deputy located almost 53 pounds of marijuana in two duffle bags. Bergren admitted he was transporting the marijuana to a storage unit in Texas for cash compensation.

Bergren was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including Possession of Marijuana and remains in-custody without bond. He is from the State of Washington.

The 53 pounds of marijuana was labeled to indicate a “medicinal quality” (high in THC content) with an estimated retail price of $3000 a pound.

Citizens can contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions at 928-771-3260 or the YCSO website.
