DORR Hosts MoveOn.org Movie Party

Sedona AZ (March 27, 2010) – The Democrats of the Red Rocks will be hosting a “Capitalism: A Love Story” movie party run by MoveOn.org Political Action Committee, Sunday, March 28, 2010, at 6 PM at the Big Park School, Sedona, Arizona. Free to the public.

When the Supreme Court ruled that corporations have the same First Amendment rights as people, our democracy entered a scary new world. Now, if Exxon-Mobil, Halliburton, or any other corporation wants to defeat a senator for re-election, they can literally spend any amount of money. There are no limits.

That’s why we’re launching a major new effort to root out corporate influence in Washington to make sure our elected officials start listening to Main Street instead of Wall Street.

We’ll kick it off big, with hundreds of parties around the country to watch “Capitalism: A Love Story,” Michael Moore’s documentary about the financial crisis. There’s no better example of what happens when we let corporations run roughshod over our democracy, and it’s a really funny and important film.

  1. Michael Schroeder says:

It is a shame that people are being duped by the two biggest capitalists in the country, Michael Moore who has located his film company in Michigan because of the tax breaks he receives, and George Soros who uses moveon.org as a vehicle to manipulate mindless people so he can profit by trading currencies of countries based on their political shifts that he is largely responsible for. The above “notice” and cries of inequality on political advertising that is being raised is no more than complaining about the shift in political advertising that has been controlled by the unions and major liberal foundations for decades. They don’t like competition. Too bad. I think the majority of people would like to hear about a candidate that is not supported by the unions or government workers. I think it is about time to stop beating on corporations who bring employment, innovation and opportunity to this country, despite having one of the highest tax rates on the planet. I think it about time to start looking at the benefits they bring instead of beating them up as this administration and people like Michael Moore and George Soros love to do. You can be a mindless manipulated robot and put millions into Moore’s pocket, or billions into Soros pocket, or you can get a little education on how this country was formed and why it is still the greatest country on the planet. And while you are at it, maybe the people who are sponsoring this program can tell the rest of us why there has been no disclosure on $200+ million dollars that flowed into the president’s campaign coffers. We are all waiting for that disclosure, at least those of us who are actually concerned about transparency in government and our election laws.

President Obama appointed the same big business, same pro corporate kingpins, same Treasury and World Bank, same Wall Street and high flying bankers, same social welfare leaders, same union leaders, same old same old same old. Same eco groups sold out – for 8 years the President has pushed TPP as an example. There are hundreds more. And there is no truth that President Obama was saddled with only the Bush era; he was saddled with the Clinton era. Tell stories enough people begin to accept them.
