December 2011 Unsung Hero Receives Award

Cottonwood AZ (December 12, 2011) – A packed house applauded the December 2011 Yavapai County Unsung Hero Award winner, Richard Shay of Cottonwood Arizona. Candidates for the award are nominated each month by a Yavapai County entity or citizen and presented by County Supervisor A. G. Chip Davis. The December 2011 winner was nominated by the Cottonwood Arizona Chamber of Commerce and the ceremony was simultaneously videotaped by the Yavapai Broadcasting “Mark in the Morning” radio show.

Steve Schmidt of the Cottonwood Chamber co-presented the award on behalf of its many members in attendance and began the award ceremony by saying “Richard Shay deserves recognition for all that he does for his community.”

Shay has been associated with the Cottonwood Arizona Chamber of Commerce nearly four years.

Chamber of Commerce presenter Schmidt also said, “While the “so-called” important people are standing around smiling, shaking hands and trying to look important, Richard is out there getting things done. He makes himself available, is completely reliable, always in good humor and never complains. He volunteered for the Halloween Festival, National Night Out, Air Fest, and the Jacob Teague Memorial Softball Tournament to name just a few of the activities.”

Shay was presented with an Unsung Hero Award certificate at the end of the program by Supervisor Davis. The “Mark in the Morning” radio show was simultaneously videotaped by the Yavapai Broadcasting Company and is available for viewing at www.verdevalleytv.com.
