Dear Editor: Sheriff Joe

Since moving to Sedona (not Maricopa County) about one year ago, I have been unable to escape the constant news about Maricopa County’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio.  Unfortunately, the comparison that comes to mind based on that news is to Bull Conner of Alabama fame.  The protestors Conner hated were engaged in civil disobedience or, in many cases, “illegal” behavior also.  It’s taken Alabama the better part of 40 years to distance itself from their notorious officer of the law.  Let’s hope Arizona’s reputation can recover more quickly.  Like Bull Conner, Arpaio — and his enablers — are most definitely on the wrong side of history.

Mr. Yuma Michaels, which side of history are you on. Let me guess, the side that favors people breaking selective laws of the United States. You either obey the law, or you have anarchy (a state of lawlessness and disorder (usually resulting from a failure of government)). We all have the opportunity to change the laws; we do not have the right to disobey the laws as that is what this country was built on. It is a shame that people like you have no understanding of the foundation of this country. What we need is a Sheriff Joe in every county in this country. It is time to put 11 million US CITIZENS back to work sir. Illegal aliens who for the most part use more resources than they give are putting United States citizens in the unemployed line.

I agree with Michael. If we condone people who break our laws, we are saying it is okay. Well, it is not okay with the citizens of this country who are being forced to pay for illegals in the form of free education, free medical care, etc., etc. We work hard to earn a living and it is unfair that we are expected to pay for those who wish to break our laws and enter our country illegals. And don’t give me that sob story about people just trying to earn a living. Mexico has fooled us all. They are a country rich in resources, but too socialized to care about their own people. The elite run everything and keep all the money and give the leftovers to the working class. Now, I’ll bet you are saying “How would I know.” Well, I lived there for 3 years. I was an illegal immigrant in Mexico when my ex-husband took me there and did not get me papers. I saw it all and learned more than I care to know. There are the elite, a very small middle class and everyone else. The elite live in mansions while others have dirt floors. So save the sob story. Make Mexico do the right think and rebuild their own country and stop stealing from ours.
