Dear Editor of Sedona Times:

A QUESTION THAT BOTHERS ME!  So where are all the “Save the Gulf” concerts? Where are the T.V. Benefits with celebrities and musicians giving heart felt speeches on the poor fisherman, wildlife, beaches, loss of income and sabotaged gulf economy? I find it rather strange how these people (including our own government) are so quick to help Haiti and other countries…but sit on their asses for this one.   R.Martinez, Sacramento CA

  1. Marlene Rayner,

Why haven’t we heard a word of criticism from the Sierra Club leveled at President Obama for his incompetent management of the BP oil spill disaster? Is it because that the Sierra Club’s political support of the President is more important than saving the Gulf and it’s people, businesses and wildlife?

U expect help for Southerners? U expect Sierra ethics? The pot called the kettle when NAACP accused racism, a Gulf disaster fraud-greed-mass destruction of economies-& so much more there just are not enough adjectives and verbs in the Oxford dictionary to indicate the lows of the bungling–NVM–forget it–time for u to realize that organizations are politicos & not legitimate stewards in the race for the almighty vanishing dollar–welcome to Rome. Et tu, (look in mirror)? Forget the pelicans & the next generation & virtue. No one cares.

    Hi Rick
Just Google Sierra and BP disaster. There are many references. I think Sierra is concentrating on clean-up (even for volunteers), pointing out the present issues with obtaining carbon-based fuels (coal, olt, etc) from less accessible places, and moving onto a world without them as much as possible. You can criticize Obama for his slow response, but the fault with the lax rules lies squarely with the previous administration dismantling/weakening them all.

My wife and I are GOING TO ARIZONA BECAUSE OF 1070. After reading the whiny comments of the editor and Sedona public officials we will bypass Sedona. God bless the brave citizens of Arizona for passing a law that mandates enforcement of existing federal and state laws.
