ST.com Editor: We were unsuccessful in obtaining information on the tank proposal and scope of work: Using Google, we searched for photos of a 1.5 million gallon water tank: We found the following Austin Texas story (complete with a photo not included here) of a 2 million gallon tank recently built. We also found a photograph (complete with story not included here) of a New Jersey town’s recent installation of the 1 million gallon tank.

We will update you if and when the Forest Service provides us with more information.

Austin, TX – A major city construction project to conserve water in a $8.3 million water tank that will hold 2 million gallons of reclaimed water is nearly complete.

The reclaimed water at the Mueller development isn’t for drinking but is perfect for watering lawns, washing cars and flushing toilets. The water stored in the tank will come from waste-water treatment plants and go to customers like Morris Williams golf course, the Mueller neighborhood and eventually UT.

The city says there will be six more tanks like this, with this one expected to save 1.5 billion gallons a year. Austin Water Utility will begin filling up the massive tank on Saturday.

This is city water, not forest service water. Look on the city website:
