David F. Nolan – Candidate U.S. Senate – Libertarian – Arizona (Uncontested)

Sedona AZ–As a Libertarian Candidate, David F. Nolan is running uncontested, so voters won’t see him on the ballot until the November election.

“I think, as certainly close to a majority of Americans realize now,” Nolan said, “that we have serious economic problems. Most of which stem from a government that spends way way more money than they take in. We have a Federal Reserve that participates in counterfeiting with the printing of funny money. The large government, working with large banks, involve themselves in every facet of our lives.”

Nolan adds that while the government and media are talking about the possibility of a double dip recession, for most of the people that he knows, the recession never ended. It has just continued on.

A phrase he uses frequently is “fiscal insanity.” Nolan calls for a halt to a Federal Reserve system that has destroyed the value of our currency. It now takes one dollar to buy what could be had for less than five cents in the past. A $5 gold coin from 1910, is worth $300 today, inflation on the order of 60 times.

Nolan wants to see currency backed with either metals, like gold and silver, or at least some tangible asset to keep it anchored and he wants the control of money returned to the Congress, as the Constitution requires, rather than an unaccountable private bank.

The bail outs are essentially propping up companies that are deemed “too big to fail” when, because they are mismanaged and have misallocated their resources, they should fail. In many ways allowing the failure to be swift and take a year or two could cause less hardship than the continual manipulation and propping up that is ongoing today. Throwing good money after bad is part of the fiscal insanity that led Nolan to run for office.

As for trade policy, Nolan said he wants to see, “an actual trade policy. NAFTA is not a free trade agreement, it is managed trade. We do no t have free trade with other nations, it is a distortion of supply and demand.”

Nolan is against SB1070, claiming it is a bad solution to a real problem. He is less concerned about immigration from law abiding immigrants than the ability of criminals to mingle with others to cross the borders. Focusing on everyone distracts from focusing on those who truly are criminals and whom it would make sense to restrict. Nolan also believes that SB1070 is a foot in the door to Real ID, which will require everyone to carry cards that link into government databases at all times. Because the law would be unenforceable if only Hispanic-looking people were stopped, the law would have to apply to everyone, and that means everyone will have to carry proof of citizenship at all times. SB1070 won’t help the illegal alien issue but it does create the ID necessity, thus, under Nolan’s platform of maximum freedom and limited interference, SB1070 is bad all the way around.

David F. Nolan’s opinion of the wars is that they should be ended and troops brought home as quickly as possible while taking into account their safety. He wants to restore fiscal sanity, and as Nolan said, “You can’t cut spending, without cutting back on all of our overseas involvement. We spent a trillion dollars on Iraq and Afghanistan, for no good outcome. Rome collapsed when it became an empire, Britain collapsed when it became an empire, we are an empire. We need to get back to a constitutional republic. We need good defense, but to go after Afghanistan because those guys were coached there it doesn’t make sense. We cannot be the world’s policeman and maintain our economic system.”

David Nolan makes alot of sense. I think he would be a great Senator. His website has more useful information: http://www.nolan2010.org

I agree with what most of Mr. Nolan has to say. I do have some disagreement about SB 1070, as the illegal alien problem incurs ancillary crimes like trespassing, property damage, and even violent criminals crossing our border. By bringing the troops home, I would hope we could have a redeployment along our southern frontier to keep illegals out. If Mister Deakin does not win the Republican primary, then I think that Mister Nolan would be our best choice for Arizonans to send to DC.

How do you feel about our second amendment
How do you feel about abortion and Homosexuals
How do you feel about our military
