Many of you have read the Mail Tribune article about Dakota Garza. Dakota is a senior at Medford High School, Medford, Oregon. She was awarded the Beat the Odds Scholarship last week in Portland. The video clip shown at the scholarship award ceremony is attached.

I am very proud of this young woman’s accomplishments. Dakota’s life story is featured in a 20/20 television documentary special that will air some time in the next month or two (tentatively scheduled for January 14, 2011 on ABC 20/20 at 10:00 p.m.).
