Collins Rhōg

Sedona AZ (April 23, 2014) –  Welcome SedonaEye.com’s new weekly feature column authored by Canadian writer, Collins Rhōg. The following has been randomly taken from Collins Rhōg’s private journal and reproduced exactly as it was written by his own hand. The date has been omitted, at his request, but Collins view is always captivatingly honest, full of depth and color, heart and perseverance in times of struggle. Collins spills his soul and captures his feelings with vivid imagery and heartfelt emotion that oozes from the pages of this historic text.

The following is but a portholes view, from across the room of “The Life and Times of Collins Rhōg”:

– downpour –

I love the rain. I love walking in it when the streets and trails are empty, as everyone else seems to fear melting. I love riding my motorcycle beneath a torrential downpour, when cars pull over for lack of vision and water collects to carelessly mingle atop the roadway. I love the smell of the rain and the “WoW” feeling of being pummeled by extra ordinarily obese raindrops. I love removing my Sou’Wester and spilling it empty at the front door. I love seeing my dog, Shugo, grin from ear to ear as he dances amongst a downpour like a fascinated child, eyes filled with joy, water running off his matted coat. I love tilting my head back and opening my mouth, to feel the rain on my face, in my eyes, and upon my tongue. I love watching the rain drift across a distant hillside while the sun streams through it, sensing the vegetation’s immense appreciation as it basks in its pureness. I love opening the door to my vintage Spitfire, while the rain ushers me into the low seats of the cockpit, feeling the trickle from the water that breached the convertibles defences, so that it can drip upon my knee as the engine roars to life. I love…that to most people…the rain sounds the same…but if you listen closely…you can feel the difference in every song it sings.

This is beautiful! As we are so desperately in need of rain, the words written by Collins Rhog perhaps have even enhanced the meaning at this particular time. Oh, give us the opportunity to share some of his expressions first hand.
