Clean Elections Launches New Online Voter Tool

Be informed.

PHOENIX AZ (August 5, 2012) — With early voting now underway for the Arizona August 28 primary election, the Citizens Clean Elections Commission is helping voters learn about the candidates running for office in their legislative district and the Arizona Corporation Commission.

A new online legislative district locator is now available on the www.CleanElections101.com website.

The www.cleanelections101.com website is designed to provide information to voters regarding the functions of the Act and how to get involved in the political process. To use the site, voters enter their address on the locator webpage and hit the “Find Your Candidates” button. The legislative district will appear – along with all the candidates running for the Arizona Legislature and Corporation Commission

“We know many voters are still not certain of their new legislative district because of the redistricting process following the 2010 Census,” said Todd Lang, Clean Elections Executive Director. “Our new legislative district locator is designed to make it very easy for voters to learn about their new districts and the candidates running to represent them.”

Once voters have accessed their district page, there are links to each candidate’s 200 word statement as to why they are running for office. In addition, if a candidate debate was held in that district, a link to the debate video will also appear.

About the Citizens Clean Elections Commission

The Citizens Clean Elections Act, passed by voters in 1998, created a new campaign financing system that provides full public funding to qualified candidates who agree to abide by the Citizens Clean Elections Commission guidelines. Candidates for statewide and legislative offices are eligible to participate in the public funding program.

To qualify for funding, participating candidates gather $5 qualifying contributions from constituents who are registered voters. Participating candidates also adhere to strict spending and contribution limits and agree to attend required workshops and debates.
