Sedona AZ (January 27, 2015)Would you like to know how Sedona City Hall works? Do you want to have a voice in the future of your City? These questions and others will be answered at the Citizens Academy, a program offered to educate and reach out to the community. Residents will have the opportunity to meet with the Council and various department staff to better understand City operations and issues.

The Citizens Academy begins on Thursday, March 26, 2015. It will run for seven weeks every Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. It is a free program open to City residents 16 years and older. Those younger than 18 will need a signed waiver by a parent or guardian. Class size is limited to twenty participants and is a first-come, first-serve program.

The City hopes to empower new leaders in the community and enhance citizen participation in its planning and processes. Citizens completing the Academy are encouraged to participate in the Citizen Engagement Program, and or apply for vacancies on City boards, commissions and committees.

For more information or an application, contact Communications and Public Affairs Manager Ginger Graham at 928-204-7119 or ggraham@SedonaAZ.gov. The deadline for applications is Friday, February 27, 2015.
