Identified Flagstaff Arizona robbery suspect, Ethan Rory Manning, was captured by a citizen and detained for Sheriff’s deputies to arrest

Flagstaff AZ (January 25, 2013) – Coconino County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Ethan Rory Manning, 22, of Flagstaff, Arizona, on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, and charged him with one count of First Degree Residential Burglary while armed with a handgun, one count of Felony Theft, and one count Probation Violation on an original charge of Residential Burglary.

On Friday, January 11, 2013, a homeowner living in the Cosnino Subdivision located east of Flagstaff, off of Interstate Highway 40, called the Sheriff’s office to report that an unknown suspect or suspects entered his home while it was unoccupied stealing several sports collector items. On Friday, January 18, 2013, the same victim reported a second residential burglary at the same address to the Sheriff’s Office. According to the homeowner, a firearm was taken during the second burglary.

Following the second burglary, the victim elected to have a home security system installed. One component of the system included imaging devices, one of which was aimed at the previous point of entry, the rear sliding glass door. On the afternoon of Tuesday, January 22, 2013, family members returned to their home to discover that yet another burglary had occurred and the point of entry was the rear sliding glass door.

The victim checked the images recorded by the new security system and saw very clear images of the suspect as he forcibly entered the home. Recorded images also depicted the suspect as he left the home carrying a laptop computer and a twelve-pack of soft drinks, both belonging to the victim. The images also showed that the suspect was wearing a backpack.

Later that day, one of the victim’s coworkers visited the home and viewed security system images of its burglary suspect. At this point, other family members recognized the suspect as Ethan Manning, a man who lives on the same street as the victim.

As the victim’s coworker was backing his vehicle out of the driveway of the victim’s residence, he saw an individual walking on the street who matched the images seen in the security system footage. He stopped his vehicle and asked the subject if he was Ethan, and received an affirmative reply. Although Manning physically resisted and received minor injuries, the coworker of the home invasion victim was successful in restraining the robbery suspect until Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies were called and arrived.

Coconino County Sheriff’s Detectives served a search warrant on Ethan Manning’s home and recovered the laptop computer, the twelve-pack of soft drinks and a handgun taken during the burglary that occurred on January 22, 2013.

Detectives are continuing this investigation. Additional burglary charges at homes in the Cosnino subdivision are possible. Manning is being held at the Coconino County Detention Facility on a $50,000 bond.

Anyone living in the Cosnino neighborhood who has been burglarized but not yet reported the robbery is urged to call the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office at 928-774-4523.
