Sedona Heritage Museum holds a free Christmas holiday open house

Sedona Heritage Museum is hosting its annual free Christmas holiday open house

Sedona AZ (December 6, 2015) – The Sedona Heritage Museum is hosting its annual Christmas in the Park Open House on Saturday, December 12, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. This Christmas event extends free admission to the museum as a holiday gift to residents and guests. During the day, everyone will be treated to hot apple cider, holiday cookies, free entertainment and activities. A fire will burn in the native stone fireplace of the old Jordan house and the museum will be decorated in vintage holiday decor as a tumbleweed ‘snowman’ greets all visitors.

Remember, museum admission and all activities are free!

Sedona Heritage Museum volunteers will offer help to visitors

Sedona Heritage Museum volunteers will offer visitors an opportunity to make a free corn husk doll memento of the day.

Sedona old-timers and descendants of local pioneer families will be in the Museum exhibit rooms sharing stories about early Sedona, including Pat Schnebly Ceballos, Sedona Schnebly’s granddaughter, and the Jordan grandchildren, the family who built the Sedona Heritage Museum buildings as their home and orchard.

Guests are also invited to the activity room where volunteers will help with the construction of a corn husk doll. Volunteers will operate the historic apple sorting machine at noon and 2:15 p.m. and the Red RockAppella Chorus will take the stage for a free holiday music concert at 1:30 p.m. in the heated Packing Shed.

Local authors Axel Gonzalez Jaimes, Dusty Crisman, Carrie Malinowski, Frieda Ann Eswonia and Diane Phelps Budden will be on hand to sign their books.

Holiday shopping in the Museum’s gift shop is a “must” as you take advantage of the shop’s annual sale. The Gift Shop carries many local arts and crafts suitable for both kids and adults.

The Sedona Historical Society operates the Sedona Heritage Museum, located in the former Walter and Ruth Jordan home and fruit packing sheds, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Sedona Heritage Museum, 735 Jordan Road in uptown Sedona, may be reached by calling 928-282-7038 or by visiting its website at www.sedonamuseum.org.
