Sedona AZ (August 18, 2014)The Superior Court of Yavapai County selected John Morris as Chief Adult Probation Officer, a vacancy created by the retirement of Billie Grobe on June 30, 2014.

Morris, selected from nine applicants, will assume the duties of his office today.

A twenty-five year resident of Prescott, Arizona, Morris recently celebrated his twentieth wedding anniversary to his lovely wife, Greta Stromberg. He has two daughters and sons-in-law, and two grandchildren. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion from Mercer University, Macon, Georgia, and holds a Master of Divinity with emphasis on Psychology of Religion, Pastoral Care and Counseling from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Morris’ professional experience includes 17 years of experience working for the Yavapai County Adult Probation Department. He began his probation career as a Standard Field Officer, and has held various positions with increasing responsibilities, serving since 2011 as its Adult Probation Officer Supervisor.

During his service with the Yavapai County Adult Probation Department, as a Drug Court Coordinator and treatment coordinator, Morris’ focus has been to help addicts recover and become productive members of society. He is instrumental in the planning and implementation of an annual celebration, held on the Prescott courthouse square, in honor of the National Recovery Month.

Presiding Judge David L. Mackey appointed Mr. Morris after interviewing qualified candidates forwarded by a selection committee.

Announcing the decision, Judge Mackey stated, “John brings to the Chief’s position a wealth of experience in helping people and building community relationships. I am confident that the Yavapai County Adult Probation Department will benefit from that experience as John moves forward with his new duties.”
