Gerry Blair retires

Sedona AZ (May 20, 2016) – The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and the Coconino County Government asks the public to join in congratulating Gerry Blair who is retiring today – May 20, 2016.

Gerry has served the communities throughout Coconino County for over 41 years, first as a member of the Flagstaff Police Department and, more recently, as the Community Programs Planner & Public Information Officer for the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.

Gerry has had a significant and positive impact on our communities.  He developed the first Block Watch Program for the City of Flagstaff and Neighborhood Watch Programs in the County. He was instrumental in starting the National Night Out Celebrations in Flagstaff and Coconino County, as well as developing the Citizens Police Academy which has grown into partnership between Flagstaff Police Department, Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, Northern Arizona University Police Department and AZ Department of Public Safety.

Gerry also has managed the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams) program for over the past 10 years. He brought CERT training to communities all over the county training hundreds of volunteers. He also revitalized the Sheriff’s Office Volunteers in Policing program.

Gerry has always been one of our best ambassadors for community policing – emphasizing that law enforcement and communities are at their best when they work together with mutual trust and respect.

Thank you, Gerry Blair, for your exceptional service to your community!
