Coconino National Forest Firewood Permits Sale

Fuelwood permits will be sold beginning April 12 until mid-December 2013 for Coconino County National Forest. No sales will be handled at the Flagstaff Ranger District office on US Highway 89 until further notice. All permits, books, maps, etc. will be available at the Supervisor's Office at 1824 S. Thompson St. in Flagstaff, or at Mogollon Rim District on Hwy 87 (20 miles north of Strawberry, AZ) or at the Red Rock District (just south of Sedona, AZ). A contractor for the City of Sedona will be painting the Uptown traffic signal poles in the Uptown area. The traffic poles to be painted are at the intersection of Forest Road and North SR 89A and at the mid-block crosswalk on North SR 89A. The road will remain open at all times but temporary lane shifts and lane closures may be in effect around the intersections and in the work zones. Work is scheduled for May 21, 22, and 23 and will begin at 10 p.m. each evening with all work to be completed before 7 a.m. Drivers are asked to please slow down in the work zone and observe all traffic control devices during this scheduled pole painting. The park honors all brave Sedona men and women who honorably served their country in times of peace and during war. Over eighty Sedona veterans have come forward so far to have their names engraved on the granite walls. Inscription applications are still being accepted through the Parks and Recreation Department and physical inscriptions will take place on a quarterly or as needed basis.
