Sedona AZ (January 14, 2010) – By Lin Ennis, Guest Writer
From today’s RRN, p. 8B:
“The city will be implementing a mandatory business licensing program and a sales tax audit program to ensure that all businesses are paying their taxes correctly.”
Will the cost of this program be covered by its benefits? I guess that depends upon the size of the license fee. It sounds labor-intensive to me, but neither does it seem to be open to discussion. I’m also beginning to wonder whether I will stay long in this “city.” We moved here for the small-townness, semi-rural we called it, and planned to live here the rest of our lives.
But Sedona seems hell-bent on doing everything big cities do – except innovate industry, attract and support clean businesses, and spend wisely. Besides being less visible to government, I’d also like a garden. ;-)
