Breaking News Woman Found Dead in Home UPDATE

Flagstaff AZ (December 7, 2012)– On Friday, December 7, 2012 at about 6:00 p.m., Coconino County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested nineteen year-old Maurice Holmes of Flagstaff, Arizona, for one count of First Degree Homicide in connection with the shooting death of twenty seven year-old Alisha Joe, also of Flagstaff.

On Friday, at about 11:23 a.m., Coconino County Sheriff’s Emergency Dispatchers received the report of a shooting at a residence located on Black Horse Road in the Cosnino neighborhood located East of Flagstaff off of Interstate Highway 40.

Deputies, medical personnel from Guardian Medical Transport and Summit Fire Fighters responded to the location. Upon arrival, first responders found the female victim, identified as Alisha Joe, lying on the floor of a back bedroom in the residence. Guardian Medical Personnel provided medical care but determined that Ms. Joe was deceased. Also present at the residence was Maurice Holmes who identified himself as the victim’s boyfriend. Detectives secured the premises and obtained a search warrant. 

During the ensuing investigation, Detectives learned that the residence on Black Horse Road was the home of one of the suspect’s relatives. Maurice Holmes was driven to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office in Flagstaff where he was interviewed. As the result of interviews with Mr. Holmes, and other parties, Detectives arrested him for one count of First degree Homicide of Alisha Joe. Mr. Holmes was taken to the Coconino County Detention Facility where he was incarcerated.

As of 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening, Sheriff’s Detectives continued to search and process the crime scene. This investigation will be continued by Detectives and personnel from the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives are currently investigating the suspicious death of a twenty-seven year old female found deceased in a residence located on Black Horse Road in Cosnino, which is a residential neighborhood located east of Flagstaff off of Interstate 40.

On Friday, December 7, 2012 at about 11:23 a.m., Sheriff’s Emergency Dispatchers received the report that someone had been shot at the home. Investigators have secured the residence and are in the process of obtaining a search warrant.

The focus of the investigation is to determine if this is a homicide or if the victim died as the result of a self-inflicted wound. Media are being staged at Black Horse Road and Cosnino Road. Further details will be published when available.
