Blasting Work Requires Interstate 17 Closures

ADOT Interstate 17 logoSedona AZ (November 4, 2013) –  Blasting work on Interstate 17 will require overnight closures this week between 11:30 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. as part of the climbing lane project south of Camp Verde this week.

Beginning Monday, November 4, 2013, through Wednesday, November 6 and Thursday, November 7, 2013, Arizona I-17 will be closed one time between 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. however, on Tuesday, November 5, Interstate 17 will be closed between 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. followed by two separate one hour closings at 1:00 a.m. and then at 2:30 a.m. for blasting and clean-up operations.

Northbound AZ I-17 will be stopped at State Route 169 and southbound I-17 traffic will be stopped at General Crook Trail until the work is completed and the roadway is reopened.

In addition to the full closures, drivers can expect single-lane restrictions in both directions through the work zone between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. from Monday night through Friday morning this week.

During construction, bicyclists are not permitted through the project work zone as the shoulders along I-17 are closed.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

  1. Maintenance work on SR 89A from the top of Mingus Mountain to Jerome – Delays of up to 15 minutes are possible.

    Maintenance work to remove debris from the shoulders on State Route 89A (mileposts 335 to 342) has begun and will continue until Thursday, Nov. 7, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

    Crews began today at the top of Mingus Mountain and will work toward Jerome. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. SR 89A will be reduced to one lane and crews will direct traffic through the work zone in alternating directions.

    Delays of up to 15 minutes are expected and drivers should allow additional to reach their destinations.

    ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
